Celebrate St. Patty's Day with these Colorado Springs Events
Colorado Springs is a great place to live for many reasons. As a Colorado Springs native, I take great pride in presenting our beautiful city to newcomers. Whether you are relocating to Colorado Springs from another state, overseas or across town, I can make your move a great experience. We love where we live and believe you will too! One of the best things about Colorado Springs is that we take every holiday to the next level, and St. Patrick's Day is no different. Check out some of the MUST-ATTEND local events taking place this weekend to celebrate St. Pat's!
THE CITY'S KICKOFF TO SPRING IN COLORADO
The first annual Colorado Springs St Patrick’s Day Parade was held 35 years ago in Old Colorado City. After outgrowing the West Side, festivities were moved to the center of the city. Today this is the biggest and best start to events in the heart of Colorado Springs’ Downtown, every year! Join thousands of runners, hundreds of cyclists, dozens of dancing groups, Celtic bands, marching bands, schools, charities, businesses, and more for this Irish downtown celebration!
Runners and bicyclists MUST pick up their packets at the Expo at the Mining Exchange-A Wyndham Grand Hotel, 8 S Nevada Avenue. The Expo will be Friday, March 15, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Limited Package Pickup on Race Day for Out of Towners).
If you are into Cycling, there are three courses to choose from to start your day! The three courses range from a family friendly course, and intermediate course, and a grueling (but amazing) ride from Downtown to the top of Woodmen at Blodgett Peak and returning for a party and ride IN the parade. All riders depart from Sahwatch and Colorado, just behind the Pikes Peak Center, and arrive at Nevada and Bijou in Acacia Park. Maps (course cues) will be available for all three courses at the St.Paddy’s Day Sports Expo on March 15, 2019.
A flat, easy route to ease you back into the running season on one of the fastest 5K courses in Colorado Springs! Starting and ending at Acacia Park (Tejon and Bijou Streets) the course runs through downtown Colorado Springs mainly on Tejon Street. Come for the Run, and stay for the Parade that follows at Noon! No Pets or Wheels of any kind allowed in the runs.
For the wee ones to take part, there will be two heats that run up and back on Tejon Street starting and ending at Acacia Park. A One Mile course for youngsters age 6 to 12, and a Half-Mile course for those 5 and under. A parent may tag along with the 5 and under runners. Make sure to be at Tejon and Bijou for the 11:00 start! Registration IS REQUIRED for all children to participate! Kids get a T-shirt and a chance to meet the Chick-fil-A Cows!
Abby's Irish Pub's first St. Patricks Day celebration will run the entire weekend! Join them for all the fun! They will be serving all the classic Irish Food and drinks you could imagine. Join them Sunday for the Celtic Steps along with the Pikes Peak Highlander Bagpipers.
