Celebrate your Labor Day Weekend at the 2019 Labor Day Lift Off
If you're looking for a family-friendly activity that the entire family can participate in during Labor Day Weekend, we've got the scoop on a more than 40 year old tradition that you don't want to miss! This weekend is the annual Labor Day Lift Off at Memorial Park in Colorado Springs.
Start your morning off right with a hot air balloon mass ascension of over 70 balloons accompanied by breakfast and drinks from local vendors. Activities will continue throughout the day with skydiving demonstrations, wakeboarding exhibitions, paddle boarding, live entertainment, chainsaw carving and donut eating competitions. Wrap up your visit at Memorial Park over the Labor Day weekend with a hot air balloon glow at dusk. Admission to the park is FREE, so bring the whole family for a day of fun!
Rates - $275/person (includes a $10 non-refundable booking fee)
Embark on an early morning adventure as you check in at the Rainbow Ryders’ tent. From there, you’ll be escorted to the launch field where the inflation process of your balloon begins, giving you the opportunity to witness the gentle giants come to life.
Once your balloon is inflated and ready to go, you will be lifted off the ground to fly among the many balloons participating in the event. Your flight will last approximately 45 minutes to an hour. Make sure to bring your camera, as you will embark upon a unique journey with breathtaking views!
After landing, enjoy a celebratory toast and flight certificate to commemorate your aeronautical adventure. You will also be driven back to the festival grounds in a Rainbow Ryders’ chase vehicle.
Tether Rides

Purchase tickets day of: $25 per adult & $15 per child
Located at the baseball fields inside memorial park
A tethered hot air balloon ride is a great way to experience the unique feel of riding in a hot air balloon, without having to travel any distance. During the tether, you will be taken up to 75 feet in the air, which will provide a great view of the local surroundings. As you rise into the air and watch the surroundings drop away from you, you’ll notice the excitement from a first launch, as well as the serenity a balloon ride can provide. Even though it goes up and down just like an elevator, the sensation is completely different. Come enjoy this unique experience during the Labor Day Lift Off!
Suga Bear & The Show Time Band is one of the hottest high energy live bands based out of Colorado Springs, Co. The seven member group is composed of a diverse group of musicians that helps define fun and excitement. The bands distinctive style and raw energy will keep you dancing, shaking and moving from start to finish. Show Time Band is always exciting on stage with their unmistakable sound and electrifying showmanship, combining all the great sounds of R&B, Funk, Motown, and top 40 hits to create their own flow of “Hot dance music”.
Martini Shot
Takes the stage Saturday, August 31 & Sunday, September 1 at 8:00PM
The Martini Shot is a seven-piece, horn-powered, Pop-Rock cover and original band based out of Southern Colorado. The Martini Shot has released four original projects with major influences of Barenaked Ladies, Reel Big Fish, 311, and many others. The band’s covers are high energy pop tunes in which they add horns to give it the “Martini Shot flavor”.
Registration will begin at 7:00am on both Saturday and Sunday
Men & Women Divisions (14 or Older)
Participants must be 14 years or older. Entry fee is $10 per person at walkup registration the days of the competition. There will be a 2 minute clock for this competition. The participant who consumes the most number of donuts in the allotted time will be declared the winner. A cash prize will be awarded to the winner in the amount of $100 and second and third place will receive gift certificates for each day.
Youth Divisions (5-13)
Participants must be between the ages of 5 and 13. Entry fee is $10 per person at walkup registration the days of the competition. There will be a 2 minute clock for this competition. The participant who consumes their hanging donut first in the allotted time will be declared the winner.
Wings of Blue Skydiving
Each member of the Wings of Blue Demonstration Team is hand selected to represent the Air Force and Armed Forces. They are put through rigorous training on freefall and canopy flying, smoke systems, flag systems, and formation flying maneuvers.
The Wings of Blue Demonstration Team shows are specially tailored each time to accommodate the show site. Popular demo maneuvers include the Wings of Blue bomb burst, in which each jumper performs a 180 degree turn and tracks in separate directions creating an incredible burst effect, or Canopy Relative Work where the jumpers will join their parachutes together and fly as one. Additionally, jumpers fly streamers and a massive 800 square foot American flag!
Each demonstration is complemented with a special soundtrack and narration for full crowd enjoyment. Upon landing, the demonstrators will move to the crowd where they will sign autographs, take pictures, and answer questions.
