Buying your first home is an exciting time, full of changes and new experiences. While you're learning about this detailed process, the Mike MacGuire team will help you navigate through all of the ins and outs of the home buying experience. When you purchase your first home, you will be excited to get settled in, but there are a few other purchases that you may need. Here are seven things that can go unnoticed in the home buying process that you'll want to budget for in advance.
Blinds
Blinds are not always the first thing you think of when you buy a home, but if your home in Colorado Springs doesn't come with blinds, you'll want to add this to the budget. You can purchase standard blinds at a local home improvement store, or you can hire a company to come and measure your windows and create a custom fit. Ask us for a referral to a reputable local company!
Fire Extinguisher
This is a MUST for every home. At the minimum you should keep one in the kitchen, but ideally you should have one on each floor on your home.
Snow Removal Tools
While you may not need to purchase your mower right now, you will need to stock up on snow removal tools. Your home in Colorado Springs may be comfy and cozy when it's snowing, but when you need to get out of the house you'll be glad to you have your snow shovel and sidewalks salt. Stock up on these tools now so you're prepared for the snow this winter.
Hose & Nozzle
This may not be at the top of your mind when you move in, but when you need a hose, you'll wish you had one. With the hose you'll also want a few attachments for this tool, such as a nozzle and a hose roller to help keep it organized.
Refridgerator
When you were renting you probably weren't responsible for purchasing major appliances, but as a homeowner, you may be required to make this purchases yourself. You'll want to include this into your budget.
Fence
If you have children or pets who you want to keep contained while outdoors, a fence will be a must for a new homeowner. This can be expensive, so don't forget to leave room for this in your budget.
Lawn Mower
If you've been living in an apartment or rental home, where the landscape has always been cared for by your landlord, you'll want to start saving for this purchase. Thankfully, you will have all winter to save up for this investment.
