Fall Staging Ideas for Your Home

If you’re selling your home, you have a great opportunity to make your home feel cozy, warm, and welcoming through the fall season. While you don’t have to go overboard and make your home look like the fall aisle at your local department store, you can add accents and scents to make your home feel exceptionally fall-ish. The MacGuire Team highly recommends that you stage your home, because studies have shown (and our own experience proves) that staged homes do much better on the market. While staging your furniture is important, it can also be valuable to stage for the season, so here are a few tips to help match your home to the fall season.

Make Great First Impressions

The first thing that buyers will see is the front of your home. Dress up your porch and front door with some festive fall decor. It doesn’t have to be over the top, but with some tasteful accents, you can make your home feel welcoming right from the start. Hang a beautiful wreath on your front door with some orange and red for a warm fall feel. If you have a large front porch and want to add more, you can add a hay bale with a scarecrow or some pumpkins up the steps.

The Feel of Fall

Fall is more than just a decor or style, it’s a feel. It’s a favorite season of many because of the way it makes them feel - so add the fall feel to your home. Scattering fall leaves around your home in garland form, or filling a bowl with small pumpkins and leaves can go a long way. Throw a cozy blanket on your couch and add some plaid pillows if your home decor would match for an extra special cozy feel.

The Scent of Fall

Did you know that fall just has a special scent? Anything spicy, warm, and natural can make your home feel like fall. Pumpkin everything has hit the market in the last few years, so you are sure to be able to find pumpkin, caramel, cinnamon and more to make your home smell wonderful. While making your home smell wonderful is important, remember to NOT leave candles burning when you leave your home before a showing. You can get oils with reeds that help diffuse the scent or consider a wax melter. Just make sure to turn anything off before you leave - don’t worry, the scent will linger.
